In 2008, Bihar, one of the poorest regions in India, was affected by one of its worse floods in history as a result of the Kosi river breaching it's banks. Severe flooding has damaged over 250,000 homes and displaced over 3,000,000 people. Many of these people still remain stranded and waiting for aid to come.
Niswarth has arranged to send a group of volunteers to Bihar to help victims in the regions of Pratapganj, Sripur, Govindpur and Bhavanipur. The volunteers have been travelling by boat to deliver food, clothes and much needed medicines.
Kinkar Pandit, Niswarth's member leading the field team in Bihar described the situation, "Disease has become the key issue now. People have no clean water, food or medicines to cope with the calamity. The floods have swept away all of their belongings. There is a lot of chaos with many people not knowing what to do or who to go to. It is really important that we take immediate actions to help these people before this turns into another disaster like the Tsunami."

Health was the primary concern for the victims of the flood. Although water had been receeding in some areas, stagnant water has lead to the spread of disease.
Niswarth also arranged various other items like blankets, clothes, mosquito nets, torches to help the people in the region.
Niswarth would like to thank everyone who donated to helping it carry out it's activities and relief efforts.
